Asperger's, Neurological Disorders, and Parent Struggles: Blue Peninsula
I caught up with parent and author Madge McKeithen in a West Village coffee shop in New York City last week to discuss her important book, Blue Peninsula. Using poetry as a source of insight and a means of coping, Madge tells the story of her son, Ike, whose neurological disorder has lead to steady erosion of physical and cognitive abilities. Madge reminds us that "the only way out is through" and she calls on T.S. Eliot, E.E. Cummings, Donald Hall, and others to provide some light during her ongoing "very real" journey.
